General FAQs

No referral is required for private patients. You will only need a doctor’s referral if:

• You were injured at work and will be compensated through workers compensation

• You were injured in a motor vehicle accident and will be compensated through third party

• You are entitled to the Medicare EPC program

• You are entitled to services under Veterans Affairs

PHYSIOTHERAPY: At the first consultation, you will be asked about your condition, then undergo a thorough assessment and a diagnosis will be given. We will discuss with you our treatment plan and how long it may take until you recover and return to sport or work. We will also treat and educate you on your condition. You will be given exercises. Feel free to ask any questions at any time. Please bring any relevant scans with you as this will aid with assessment and management of your condition.

PHYSIOTHERAPY: Our appointments are 30 minutes.

Yes, and ON THE SPOT! Bring your health fund card with you to the consult as we use the HICAPS system to arrange direct funds transfer of your rebate, saving you a trip to your health fund office. Some funds also pay a rebate for massage, orthotics and acupuncture. Check your individual fund for the amount of cover and the services covered.

Insurance claims are billed directly to the insurer, provided all necessary claim numbers and information is provided to us. Private patients need to settle their accounts at the end of each treatment session. Masnad Health Clinic accepts EFTPOS, Visa/Mastercard payments, cash and cheques.

Yes, convenient parking is available at our clinic.

YES. Peakhurst Health and Performance operates on an appointment only basis to ensure adequate time and service provision can be provided to all clients equally. Please book online or contact us to check availability.

Physiotherapists use a range of physical tests to try and diagnose your condition. Treatment may involve manual therapy (massage, mobilization, manipulation). Therefore try to wear appropriate clothing to move freely, allow visual inspection and easy ‘hands-on’ access to your involved body part. Peakhurst Health and Performance will provide a hospital gown, towel and shorts for modesty as required.

It is advisable to bring along any x-rays and scan results that you may already have had taken, a pair of shorts if the injury is to a body part that is under normal clothing, your private health fund card (if you are a member) and means of paying for your consult – ie cash, cheque, credit card. The more information we have, the more effective your treatment will be!

Peakhurst Health and Performance operates on an appointment only basis. We understand that life is busy and people need to move or cancel their appointments, sometimes at short notice. We appreciate your courtesy in providing as much notice as possible so we can offer the vacant appointment to someone else in need. Every day we have clients on waiting lists for emergency appointments. 

Peakhurst Health and Performance reserves the right to charge a cancellation fee of 50% of treatment cost if less than 24 hours notice is provided regarding an appointment change, cancellation or non-attendance.

You are totally entitled to choose your own therapist! Bring your referral in with you to your first session and we will liaise with the referring doctor to inform them that you have commenced treatment with us.

The more, the merrier! The majority of our clients are self‐referred. They come to see us because they are pleased with the outcomes we’ve achieved for them or because they have family and friends who were so pleased with our service they’ve sent others to us. We would be happy to expect the same word of mouth referrals from you. As a small thank you, we would love to offer you a $10 credit for any service, for each person you refer!
